Last happenings here

Things are going well here. Becca is starting to be more alert and sleep more at night. Thank goodness! I was getting to my wits end. Lack of sleep does not look good on me :P.
We are still pumping and feeding her breast milk in bottles. Her latch is terrible and after a few nursing sessions it hurts so much that I cry...then she cries....terrible cycle.

We have our two month old appt tomorrow along with her first round of vaccinations. I am not looking forward to the shots but I do want to see how much she has grown!
Don't know if I got to tell any of you but my request to work two days a week at home was denied. I had several meltdowns that day. I know I have to work (for a lot of reasons) but I really wanted those two days, ya know? The office agreed to be "flexible" so that is good. I also heard that the office is going to be restructured and some people will be laid off soon--so I am not going to complain!

We put an offer on a townhouse yesterday. They counter offered today but then let us know the additions to the house were not done with the proper permits and stuff. Bummer...we really liked the townhouse. Oh well, we will keep looking...

Here is our little munchkin smiling. It took me so long to get this picture cause she would stop smiling to check out the camera!

FINALLY...It's Our Turn!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;o)

So, here is a picture of Baby Cooper...this is 8 weeks and he/she looks like a little peanut but, Baby Cooper is actually the size of a lime right now since we are a little over 12 weeks. I have another ultrasound scheduled this Thursday.
Things are going great. I have not had any sickness. A little tired at times but, not having that anymore. I am feeling great! I am looking forward to being able to "feel" pregnant. I know that sounds funny but, I am excited to be able to feel the little one moving around. It will feel more real then ;o). Kirk and I and our families are still on cloud 9...we are so thrilled and blessed. We are definitely excited to be parents together and looking forward to it. I have heard many people say wonderful things about parenthood and my favorite so far is: "It only gets better from here..."

That is definitely the outlook Kirk and I are taking. I will keep you posted buds!!! XOXO to you all!

I took the plunge

Well, I at least dipped my toes in....I finally opened an Etsy shop. It is something that I have contemplated doing for quite awhile, but I finally did it today. I have only listed my felt popcorn because it is hard to take good pictures in the dark house. Eventually, I will try and sell my hair clips, more felt food, tutu's and necklaces. I hope to make a little cash money to have my own spending cash.

I am going down tomorrow to have lunch with the preggers, then we are going to Ikea to buy furniture for the front room. We are getting rid of the bed (and some of the toys if I have anything to say about it) and putting in a couch and bookcase. The couch will make into a bed, so everyone can still visit!!! We are going to put our desk in there so the room will really be an office/craft/play room. I am excited because I will be able to craft and Reagan can play in there and I won't feel like I am neglecting her. I am also super excited to get my dining room table back!

Check out my Etsy store and keep a look out for things to come: www.etsy.com/shop/katiesklips

The past three weeks

Hello again! I wanted to take a bit and let you know what has been going on in our lives since Rebecca's arrival.

Things have been nuts at times and peaceful at others.

We had some nursing issues while still in the hospital and we found out one reason was Rebecca was tongue tied. We did a lot of research and had several doctor's appointments and specialist appointments to see what to do. Come to find out there is a membrane that connects her tongue to the bottom of her mouth was too tight. It was preventing her from latching on properly. We decided to have the membrane clipped and it was done very quickly in the Pediatric surgeon's office. The surgeon was concerned that if we didn't clip the tongue now it might lead to speech problems and speech therapy. Also if we waited to have the tongue clipped we would have to put Rebecca under anesthesia. The clipping was a painless procedure as the membrane has no nerve endings. I cried more than Becca did! Thank God my sister was here to go with me.

Rebecca was also jaundiced but now she is all better! We had to have her on a special lighted blanket. She was only on the special blanket for a few days.

Due to the latching issues, Rebecca lost almost too much weight after leaving the hospital and her doctor was concerned. We had to supplement with formula. She started gaining weight and as of Tuesday she was over her birth weight. Thank goodness! As you know I tend to worry and I was a basket case! Since she is older now and her tongue is better, the nursing has become much better but we are still working on perfecting it! I am pumping too so we have a freezer stash.

I had a touch of the baby blues and started feeling better about 10 days after Rebecca's arrival. My parents, my in-laws and my sister probably think I am nuts! I cried at the drop of a hat--I even cried when the receptionist was super nice to me! I was told it was normal but sh*t, no one warned me about it!

My parents have been lifesavers as were the Allen's for the first few days. With the c-section, I needed people to drive me places and carry the baby up the stairs. My parents are loving life--holding the baby and talking to her and even changing dirty diapers! The have been great in running to Publix, doing dishes and cooking dinner. They are even starting to help us pack up what crap we will not use until we move. I seriously have asked them to move in but Sean is hesitant. HA!

My parents have been helping me during the day as Rebecca had her nights and days mixed up. Plus they give me an hour to get a nap! It is funny to go to bed to so early so I can get up in the middle of the night--I haven't gone to bed at 8PM since I was little! Sean and I have been handling the night feedings. Sean has been great and not complaining when he has to work the next day! We will be handling this weekend alone as my parents are going to Naples to visit family.

Rebecca is amazing. She is already starting to hold her head up during tummy time. My parents are amazed! Plus she is such a wiggle worm! So funny. It is great to interact with her and sing to her and watch her make eye contact with me. I am really looking forward to her first smile.

For Christmas, my parents got us a video camera so I will figure out how to post one soon!

I haven't forgot about you all

Just been super busy...I will post updates later this week or weekend. We have had many a journey to the pediatrician and the pediatric surgeon. What a few weeks. We go to the ped again today to see if Becca has gained any weight.

Here are some of the latest pics.
