Movies, downtown, and fam

Hows - Please know that Kirk and I are thinking of you and your family. Please know I am here for you if you need anything. Sending you my love and support. I know how tough this is. BTW, did you go to the doctor's for the infection? You didn't mention. Not too much going on here. Hope you are feeling better. The free movie passes didnt work out on Thurs night...we could not get in so we saw Get Smart instead. It was good. Also, Friday night Dad, Kirk and I went to $1 movies and saw What Happened in Vegas. It was funny....check it out. Saturday got hair done and then did chores around house. I went to bachelorette party downtown...it was pretty fun but, some of the girls that attended the party were kind of boring. It was like they weren't having a good time and were just there out of obligation. Jeez. Its a night-out so make the best of it. The bride to be still had fun so that is all that matters. I thought right then that I was so glad I have you guys. We always have fun wherever. My sweet Kirk dropped me off and picked me up so I could have some drinks. He is absolutely the BEST. The party was fun but, I don't feel the need to go downtown orlando anytime soon. You know? Sunday we did more chores and packed for our trip. Dad, Kirk and I went swimming and had dinner at GM's last night. We are off tonight to visit Kirsten, Scott, and the nephews. We are bringing over dinner as they just got back from vacation last night.
Have a fab rest of the day buds!

It's over

and we are home safe and sound. I didn't kill the bride, but she did make me cry. Beth asked Sarah to stay with her the night before the wedding, and that just hurt my feelings. Beth almost acted like my side of the family were just an annoyance to her and it just made me upset. I know she is super close with Mike's family and really close to Carol, but we are her family and we don't see her that often and we love her too. Besides that, everything went really well. Because it was raining at 2pm, the Biltmore people determined that it was too risky to do an outside wedding at 6pm, so it had to be inside. Beth was upset, but understood. I just wish they could have waited a little longer to see if the rain would pass, because don't ya know, it was sunny and beautiful at 6. That's their policy and who are we to try and change it/argue it. Beth looked awesome and was just so happy, she was beaming. It was good to see her like that. Carol had a really hard time when Beth danced with Hal, I just couldn't let myself go there. I didn't feel like dealing with it, so I guess I just pushed it down and went on with the rest of the evening. Brian was AMAZING as usual, but this weekend I realized that I need to be a better wife. He really took the reigns and took care of Reagan and pretty much was on his own and he did a great job. I don't give him enough credit and I can be pretty nasty at times. I am going to try and be a better wife, that is my mid-year resolution.

Reagan is feeling better, still has a little of the squirts. She is almost back to eating normal food, but we have to stay off the milk. Her test results came back today and they were all negative. I guess that's good, but at least if they were positive for something, we would have something! I had a good day at the shop. Reagan was a little whiny, but she hasn't been here for a week so it is to be expected. Now I am going home and maybe out to get a new cell phone, if we have enough time.

Pictures to be posted later of the wedding and my god awful hair-do (yes, I forgot to mention how bad it was, you'll see)

Death, Mastitis and 4 Year Olds...

They're all pretty similar...

Dick died Friday.

It's been a LONG weird weekend. I suppose its the kind of weekend I should have expected to follow his death - you know, like a strange sort of upset to the natural flow of my life.

His death certainly isn't unnatural. He was an old man who had lived a good life - until he started to deteriorate from the cancer. I guess that's what haunts me the most...the way he just sort of slowly wasted away before our eyes. It's was so much easier with my other grandpa who had a heart attack and went into a coma. Even though he was still alive and on life support - he was gone. He never regained consciousness. So, it was more like - one day he was here and the next he wasn't. With Dick there was all of this fading in and out. The drugs changed him. It SUCKED! He should have died months ago...

Friday was just weird. It started out SOOO great. Whitebread's mom offered to watch Loki on Saturday so Whitebread and I could have some alone time. And then my Dad called to tell me that Grandma called to tell him that Dick was dying (of course he has been dying for quite some time) but his body literally began shutting down.

So he and my mom dropped everything to head up there. I wanted to go, but they didn't want to take Aleaa and someone needed to watch her. So they asked if we would keep the dog and the 4 year old (leaving careful instructions about who should be leashed!) So, much for our "alone" time...

They didn't make it but 20 minutes down the road when Dick passed. I think it caught us all off guard - a little. But it was probably good. I don't think my Dad really wanted to be there when he died. For some reason, it seems so much easier to show up once it's over.

I was sad (and still am - a little) but I don't think I'll really be able to take it in until I enter his house and he's not there to greet me with his tall, bald, wild greetings and slightly perverted kiss on the lips.

So, we kept Aleaa all weekend. Saturday was fine. Nothing too crazy to report. We went swimming - even Loki - and that was a hoot - except that my plugged duct breast really started hurting.

By Sunday morning, I was miserable. I had to pump to try to eliminate some of the pressure I was feeling. I guess Aleaa had never seen me pump before - because she asked me if I had run out of milk in my belly. I told that the milk didn't come from my belly - that it came from my breasts and that I hadn't run out but had TOO much milk in there. Her response...,"Well, then why are you putting milk in there?". LOL - what a nut - I guess it would seem logical that if milk came out of there to feed Loki that it had to get in there somehow...and why would you use a machine to take it out if Loki did that? So, of course it looked like I was putting milk in there...

Anyway, I was pretty loopy all day. Achy but not miserable. My breast was REALLY sore, but I wasn't nauseous or anything. We were supposed to go have lunch with the Bunn's but Aleaa threw a MASSIVE tantrum just as we were leaving and I gave her an ultimatum - apologize and go to the picnic or stay in your room (the spare room) and miss the fun. Well, she opted to stay and take a nap - which she clearly needed. Well, I offered to stay since I was feeling weird anyway and when Whitebread went to kiss me he thought I felt a little warm so we checked my temperature and I had a fever of 102!!!

Yup, infection of the breast will do that! Weird, huh? - all because of that silly old duck! Seriously though, watch out for those plugged ducts, they can get NASTY.

So, I spent most of yesterday, chilling out and reading pirate stories to Aleaa. Which was good. My fever broke sometime last night and I feel better today, just exhausted...

I took Aleaa to daycare, this morning - only we were about 2 hours later than she usually gets there - it was 9:30 instead of 7:30 - so she didn't get to eat breakfast there (nevermind the fact that she ate breakfast at my house) so she promptly threw another MASSIVE fit, until the daycare director offered her a snack of animal crakers and milk (nevermind that I had JUST offered her a snack of animal crackers for the road - which she declined)...but atleast she calmed down.

My parents come home today (also VERY good) and they're bringing MJ (grandma) with them. She hasn't decided how long she's staying and I think that's a good thing, too.

Whew, this whole life thing is a WILD crazy ride! Hang on tight!

And yet...

...another rainy afternoon. Not much going on here either. Just here at work. Kirk and I have a date night tonight...we got free passes to see a preview of the new Angelina Jolie/Morgan Freeman movie. Not sure I will love it but, hey the tix are free. So rare anymore. Probably will hit the $1 theatre tomm night...Dad is coming with us too. I am headed to a bachelorette party saturday night here in O-town for a co-worker. Should be interesting...I have not been to one of those since howie's night. I mean who goes out anymore? One doesn't even know what to wear downtown. I know I have such trials and tribulations. I have had no luck at the mall so I am probably wearing black pants and a cute top. So....we are excited to get out of dodge for a bit...we leave Tuesday after work for Yallaly's, Savannah, and then to the Coopers casa in Greenville. Jazzy gets to visit her Grandpa and eat cheese and crackers til her heart's content. She is super excited. We are doing an early 4th of July get together with Dad and GM at GM's house this sunday night. We also plan to see Kirk's sis and family Monday night and give little Jack his 7th b-day gift :o). Good luck with the continued discussions Turn. It will happen. Kate -have a fab time and I hope everything goes as well as it can go. Hows - "you" are the artist...maybe you could paint that bus as you are so talented. Okay buds....TTFN :o)

Been thinkin'

I really like this blog however, I have no interesting things to post about. I was suspecting that this was girls only but after Howie's "plugged" post, I have confirmed it! HA :)

Sean and I got into a pretty big "discussion" yesterday--on date night. Perfect. His procrastination iabout job searching is taking its toll on me. Anyway...I am sure my impatience does not endear me to him either.

Work is ok. We made our quarterly goal so that means I get a bonus. YIPEE! We are planning to pay off a credit card and cut it up! We are also saving some for house/emergency fund and some for a rainy day. We figure in a few years we will need a new computer so we are starting to save now.

Found out this week that a couple we know from law school is getting divorced. They were married for a little over 2 years. Just makes me think about how lucky we all are!

I do love the pictures of Reagan and Loki. Maybe I will post one of Kylie! Sorry I had to yell in your Voice mail, Krame-Kylie took off, growling, trees swaying, leaves blowing. It was a whirwind of activity. I glad I could make you laugh.
Back to work!

Leavin' on a jet plane

...don't know when I'll be back again. My Mom and Dad used to sing that to me when I was a tiny tiny baby. I can still hear my Dad singing it in my head sometimes. Not often enough and I really wish I could hear the real thing. Anyway, we aren't flying, but we are off to NC for Beth's wedding this afternoon. Just another reminder in life that my Dad is not here and won't get to see the 2nd of his girls get married. But I am hoping that he can help me get Reagan to go down the aisle so I don't have to hear Beth bitch and moan about it.

On another note, Reagan did not throw up last night, but she did have a really bad bout with the 'rears and I had to clean her from head to toe. I almost put her in the tub, but I was so tired at that point and I knew it would take awhile, I just baby wipped her ass, gave her a cracker and put her back to bed.

We had a huge on site field trip today and 2 of my employees were going. At 6:21am, only 4 hours after I finally went to bed, my phone rang and Christie is telling me she has been up since 4 throwing up. Am I just jinxed? So, I had to get my tired ass up, showered, dressed and out of the house by 7:30. I know, play your violin, but as you know I am not a morning person. It was nice to get the big $650 check and take it to the bank, only to come back to the store and write out over $550 worth of payroll.

I will post more when I get back from NC, unless we have internet access at the Sleep Inn, but who knows.

Pimp My BUS!!!

Now that we own a bus - we've sort of reached that critical moment where it dawns on us that we're not exactly sure what we want to do with it.

We know that the inside needs to be gutted and redesigned and the outside needs a little body work and at least one coat of paint, if not a few... We DO know that we can't do this ourselves...we need help!

I've contacted the art department at ETSU to see if they had any students looking for a part time summer job. The chair of the department thinks its a GREAT idea and forwarded my request on - but I've yet to receive a response.

I even suggested using the bus as a class project and we would make a donation to the art department upon completion (plus, think of the publicity) - and while they think the idea is STUPENDOUS - no one has the time to take it on as a class...which is fair. It is kind of a big request - and really is extremely self serving of me.

I spent a good amount of yesterday online, trying to find the location of where you submit your application to appear on MTV's "Pimp My Ride" - but I guess they aren't filming another season or they've stopped accepting applications because I couldn't find anything on their website...

My grand goal of having this bus together for this year's Christmas parade may be a little ambitious. I can't do anything unless I can enlist a little assistance!

Any suggestions, ladies?

Rainy Days

It is yucky and rainy this afternoon but, we do need the rain. Having a window now in my office is fabulous but, it is a little scary when there is thunder/lightning. Congrats on taking care of the plug issue Hows...you do amaze me missy. The pic of Loki and his girl is so cute...I have to say Loki looks like his daddy in this pic. I am so glad to hear Reagan is feeling better. I have been praying for her. The dress is adorable Kate and so is the model wearing it :o). Turn - your voicemail last night was hilarious! To fill you all in: Turn was calling to get a Reagan update and while she was leaving me a message she yelled Kylie's name loud and hung up before she really left a message. It was funny. Then she left a follow up voicemail that Kylie got into some mischief and she said she had to find out what was going on etc. Too Funny. Sorry I guess I had my phone on silent. Not much else going on. Just another day in paradise. Toodles!

Plugged as well

Thankfully, we also seem to have a plugged duck (get it? because Reagan loves ducks). That means Reagan has stopped throwing up and seems to be keeping food down and has gotten her appetite back!!!!! I am super happy to report that she is almost back to her old self. Jeanette came up to watch her today and tomorrow so I don't have to take her to the shop. Now she can stay home and relax and be germ free.

On a happy note, in my spare time I have made Reagan's dress for Beth's wedding. It looks great, I mean I am sure Beth will find all the flaws, but to us novices, it's awesome. I have a few minor touch ups to do tonight, but besides that, I am done.

Wish me luck at my staff meeting.

Clogged Plumbing

While poor little Reagan's fountain of youth overfloweth (I do hope she's doing better), my plumbing has somehow become all backed up. Last night, I woke up to feed Loki as usual. However, when he was finished nursing and finally fell asleep again, I realized that my right breast was still incredibly full and a little tender.

I'm pretty sure that he was still able to get something out of me or he wouldn't have fallen back to sleep so quickly. So at 2 AM, I hopped on the ever knowledgeable and omnipresent internet only to discover that I apparently, have a plugged duct!

So very strange... In case I didn't feel enough like a milk making machine, this happens and only reminds that not only do I generally serve one function (to nourish my infant son) but now, what I had previously regarded as a well oiled machine - has become a tired, run down, backed up piece of equipment that needs to be serviced.

What exactly is the recommended service procedure, you may ask (or maybe not -for those other mothers out there who have experienced this)? Warm compress (or shower), massage, more nursing and if necessary - roto - rooting said clog with a pin!

Nothing out of the ordinary, except for the pin ordeal! I mean really, if I had wanted a pierced nipple I would have gone ahead and gotten the package deal when I had my eyebrow done. Not that I feel too old for piercings, but the big 3 - 0 is just around the corner and adding any more holes to my soon to be sagging skin sounds a little silly.

Since Loki had gone back to sleep and Whitebread isn't really a big fan of suckling, I opted for warm compresses and massage. An hour later, nothing had really relieved my engorged-ness, so I opted for sleep. When Loki woke us up again a few hours later, I was really in some serious discomfort...I tried nursing him, but it just wasn't happening. So, I did it - I found a stick pin - sterilized it and pierced my nipple! And guess what?! It worked!!! Milk started squirting out across the bathroom! Roto rooter to the RESCUE!!!

While I'm no longer engorged, my nipple is a little sore now. But on a brighter note, since the damage has already been done, I am seriously considering adorning it. They make some pretty cute nipple jewelry these days! Though, I think I should wait until Loki is weened to give it whirl. His girlfriend (see attached photo) will think I'm the coolest Mother In Law EVER! (PS - Turner - this is your name sake!)

A BUS?!?!?

I guess I should know by now that nothing should surprise me from Howie! A BUS?? So funny. We should take a road trip when, and if, gas prices ever go down! So funny!
Howie--I am so jealous (in a good way) of your spunk! I often wish I was more like you. I carry way to much stress and worry too much. Your love of life is inspiring. I want to me more carefree, open and awesome like you.

Update on our end

and when I say end, I mean Reagan's butt and all the crap constantly coming out of it. So, while my mom watched her yesterday, no throwing up, but lots of poop. Brian took her to the Dr. where they agreed with us that this must be more than a virus and we were leaning towards some kinda intestinal thing. So, Brian, the man I love and adore, had to take 3 stool samples from her diaper. What a catch he is! Last night she only threw up once because we put the supository it, that was my job, FUN!! This morning, my mom OFFERED to watch Reagan for the second day in a row.

The shop has been going through some crazy stuff. I hired a consultant to help me with some issues we are having money wise and marketing wise, etc. Should be interesting to see what the shop has the ability to do financially and what I should/could be doing better. For those of you who remember Jennie, my most favorite employee that I have compared everyone to since she left, her little sister started here today. She needs volunteer hours for school, so yes, I would love for you to work for free. We are having a come to jesus tomorrow with the rest of the crew, hopefully they will get on the ball so I don't have to start firing people.

MORE?!

I am just rolling on the floor giggling immensely at the ridiculous length of my previous post - mostly because I had really wanted to include much more...but I'll leave it at that and add one little pineapple tidbit of exciting news:

WE OWN A BUS!!!

Canoes, Kayaks & Rowers

I am SOOO excited that we're doing this. I spend WAYYY too much time reading blogs without posting online myself...and I have alot to say...REALLY...I do...has anyone ever noticed? :)

The Bunn family has had a Stetson Crew twister spin right into our weekend and it was DIZZINGLY fun. You know, after graduating, I don't remember really staying in touch with any Stetson folks - except you girls. Well, apparently major life changing events can rekindle relationships like no other - and I guess my wedding was the spark that re-ignited the flame of friendship between myself and the four captains who followed my ridiculous reign at Stetson.

Anyway, the girls showed up Friday night full of FUN. Little Loki had his first overnight with Grandma (Whitebread's mom) which was clearly FAR more emotional for me than it was for him. I'm not even sure he noticed.

For old times sake, I got the girls up at 5 AM for a little fresh water kayak trip down the clinch river - a fateful trip indeed. At this point you should begin to recall a sweet little diddy from the cult classic Deliverance. I only ask you to begin to recall it, as I still have some scene laying to do.

This trip was not nearly as spontaneous as our youthful hearts used to allow us to be. I've known for some time that the girls were coming and that I should be making fun exciting plans. Amongst these were a relaxing canoe trip down the Clinch river. Now, because the trip was meant to be another bonding experience and we were all going to be enjoying each others company I figured that we could get away with renting one canoe for the five of us and we would take turns paddling. So I called the equipment desk at my Graduate School Alma Mater and asked to make a reservation for a single canoe for the weekend, only to be told that it wasn't necessary since no one EVER rented the canoes and they had a few of them, so surely one would be available.

Well, one of the other girls having overheard my plans put a prompt end to that notion. Not only was it ridiculous to try and squeeze 5 women into one canoe but where would we put the cooler. And while I was disappointed that we weren't all going to ride together - she had a point about the cooler! So, I called the equipment desk again to see if I should make reservations for two canoes (since getting two would surely be riskier than getting just one). And a very different individual told me that it wasn't necessary because there were PLENTY of canoes and surely we wouldn't have any problems getting two when we wanted them.

So, as the weekend approached, I grew even more wary of the availability of said canoes. And of course, I really wanted the weekend to go off without a hitch. So, the Wednesday before the girls arrived, I stopped by the equipment desk to, yet again, inquire about making reservations for the canoes. And again, I was told that I wouldn't need reservations. So I just wanted to be sure that we would be able to get the necessary equipment to accompany said canoes...I would be needing 5 life jackets and I wanted to make sure that enough would be available.

When I asked for five life jackets the girls looked at me like I was crazy and asked me what I needed 5 for. Well, I told them that there are 5 of us - one boat would carry two girls and the other boat would carry three - with one girl riding in the middle. And again, the girls looked at me like I was nuts and told me that I couldn't do that. And I said, "What do you mean, I can't do that? It'll be fine." They said, "No, really. You can't do that. There's not room." So I asked her to show me the canoes and needless to say, they weren't canoes at all! They were kayaks. Which is fine, but completely changed the concept...and now I needed 3 boats and not just two - two tandems and a single. So again I ask to make a reservation for these 3 KAYAKS and I was told that it wasn't necessary.

So I went off on my merry way, excitedly anticipating the arrival of the girls. When they did arrive I whisked them away to help load the kayaks into the back of the truck I borrowed for the occasion.

We arrived at the equipment ready to load away. I filled out all of the paper work, but before I handed them a check (they didn't accept credit cards), I wanted to make sure that we could fit them into the truck. So, I followed the lady into the back where we promptly discovered that all of the kayaks I wanted to rent were gone! Someone had come in and rented them all 3 hours earlier! And the woman says, "Oh yeah, it was soo strange, no one EVER rents these." WHAT?!!! I was FURIOUS!!! I had called twice and come in once - 3 times I was told that I didn't need a reservation...I don't know if you've ever seen a fuming Howie - but smoke was billowing out of my ears.

But alas, we decided to check another location in town and luckily they had 2 kayaks available - a tandem and a single. And I remembered that the school did have ONE tandem still left - so I called them and asked the girl if I could reserve the red tandem kayak that I had seen when I was in there earlier and she told me that it would be fine but that that one was a canoe and I could have it if I didn't mind having a canoe.

This was getting ridiculous - I had seen it earlier and knew that it was a kayak and not a canoe. So I argued with her only briefly because it was clearly going to be a loosing battle. So I told her that I would take the canoe that was really a kayak and that she should DEFINITELY put my name on it and RESERVE it for me until I could get back there to get it.

As I was completing the paperwork for the other kayaks she called me back - only it wasn't her, it was her boss who told me that I couldn't have that kayak (yes, he, in fact, did call it a kayak) because it was busted. So I asked him how bad it was busted. He told me it had a hole in it and it leaked a little. Well, a little water never hurt anyone and I was willing to take it, but he told me that I couldn't because the boys who had rented it previously had yet to pay for the damage and it was their only evidence - SHEESH! This trip was just getting loopier by the minute...you can begin humming that tune you conjured up in your head earlier...you know the one...dueling banjo's and all...

We eventually got it figured out and made it down to the river - where 5 crew captains were quickly humbled by the goddess of the river. Surely, we thought, that if we can lead a team full of rowers into competition that we could tackle a wimpy little river. I mean really, clearly we were the cream of the crew crop. They don't just let ANYONE be captain! We might have been wrong...

Well, after 3 flips, a busted knee, a sliced hand, a missing toenail and a few bottles of Boone's Farm (Sangria flavor is the only one worth mentioning) - we made it down the river where Whitebread was patiently waiting to haul us out!

And we spent the rest of trip drinking whisky slushes and eating pretzels with frosting! I love having girlfriends - and I miss you girls IMMENSELY!!!

Get Better GM and Reagan

I love this idea. I am betting this will make me a worse phone-friend! HA.
I hope GM has a successful surgery and Reagan gets better! If there is anything I can do to support or help let me know!

We had a relaxing weekend. Laundry and cooking. Sean cooked his "famous" chili. It is very good. I had him make me a small separate batch so my mouth would not be on fire.
My dad has a job interview today, keep your fingers crossed.
Other than that, I got nothing new.
Turner

Its a Monday...

Hey Buds -
Sending get well thoughts to my sweet Goddaughter...God Bless her! I just know she has to get better soon. Hang in there K & B! I took GM to the peridontist this am for some dental issues. She has to have laser dental surgery in a couple weeks where she will be put on low dose meds by iv to keep relaxed. I am the one taking over my Mom's role of taking GM to her appts. Also, we had her physical last week which went well. I think people at wk are going to think I have something wrong with me with all these appts. But, I try to schedule late in day or early am and I count it as my lunch hour. I am also now her health surrogate and financial P of A. Its the least I can do and I know Mom would hope I would fill in. I am so happy to do it for GM...it is just what you do. You know. I also had a physical recently as B and I promised to do that to make sure we are okay health-wise. All went well but, I still have to do blood work one am soon. I am sure it will be fine. Not much else going on. Just here busy working away. Oh, I volunteered on Friday night with "Give kids the world" here in Orlando...it was through my work. It is a foundation that gives vacations here in orlando for families that have terminally ill children. It is near kissimmee...they have a whole village that families have access to games, meals, ice cream, entertainment, and private villas where they can stay while going to theme parks etc. They provide it all for them. 2 of my co-workers and I ran the ice cream shop...it was just like a Friendly's. So much fun...we made milk shakes, sundaes, and tons of banana splits. Had a great time while making families smile...so worth it! I plan to do it again sometime as hubby would like to join me. We are going on a little trip next week...we are swinging by the Y's house in Jax on Tues night, Savannah on wed night and rest of week at in law's in Greenville, SC. It will be nice to have a break for a bit.
I am super excited about our blog...lets make it work buds! Love ya :o)

We are going to the damn doctor AGAIN!!

I swear, I am not sure Reagan is going to make it to Beth's wedding this weekend. She was throwing up all night. It started about midnight, after changing her crib sheets at least 3 times, Brian went to sleep on the floor in her room to try and catch the throw up before it got all over the sheets, that didn't work. Then I took her to sleep in the spare room. That seemed to be the best idea, but as soon as she would fall asleep, she would wake up and have to puke again. That poor little bunny was just so tired and so upset. Then, this morning, poopy all over, all morning. My mom is watching her now, and Brian is coming home at 2:30 to take her to the doctor at 3. Hopefully we can get some sort of something to stop the madness. Keep your fingers crossed, no more hospitals!

On a good note, this doctor visit should be free since I am sure the hospital stay max out our deductible!!!

Lets do this!!!!

I really have no idea how to do this, but here we go.
So, I feel that sometimes I am just not in touch with everyone the way I think we all would like to be. This blog is so we can all keep in touch and post pictures of what is going on in our lives. I also encourage some daily conversations about what is bugging you, making you happy or just on your mind. I know I will have my fair share of topics!! Please feel free to include your husbands, I just didn't have all of their email address.
